Black Friday falls on the 27th November this year, and with it being bigger and better than ever before, 2015 is set to be a winner!


What is Black Friday?

Beginning in the early 2000’s in the United States, this huge shopping event is usually held on the Friday that follows Thanksgiving. It kick starts the Christmas season and signals the start of early opening and later closing hours for many retailers in the run up to Christmas.

The UK’s own foray into the hysteria of Black Friday initially took place in 2003 in London, hosted by UK retailer Currys. However more and more UK based retailers adopted the marketing scheme and it hit the UK with full force when the popular online retailer Amazon, introduced it again in 2010. Year-on-year Black Friday sales figures have continued to rocket since then, with last year (2014) said to be one of the ‘busiest days on record’ with like-for like sales released by the Office for National Statistics rising by 6.4% compared to the previous year and online sales alone increasing by 12.9% compared to 2013.

More mobile users than ever before…

In 2014, There were more mobile users than ever before, with 59.8% of traffic coming from mobile devices – this shows that mobile is becoming the dominant channel for online shopping.   • Is it easy to navigate round?
