How to fuel your Fathers day eCommerce sales.

Fathers day, although it’s not as busy as Cyber Monday or Christmas even Mother’s Day, is one of the top shopping days of the year, meaning big business for e-retailers. When it comes to shopping days like this – ones that you know the date of in advance- it’s important you are prepared to meet the demand and ensure you don’t miss out on those important eCommerce sales to your competitors.

Just two years ago more than 60% of UK consumers would shop online to find the perfect gift with on average each Briton spending £10 on their dad. By doing some target marketing you should expect just as much traffic as you received this Mother’s day (if you took some time back in March to do some target marketing for Mother’s day too!).

Some great ways to promote your business for Fathers Day are:

Social Media – Use Social media to push discount codes on specific products, advertise offers and incentives across social media, such as ‘Share our page to get 20% off our Garden Range’.

Free gift wrapping – incentives such as free gift wrapping and free delivery options work well as many people face not having time or not being able to wrap, but they also don’t like paying for gift wrapping when they have the option to attempt it themselves. Free delivery is also a great gesture to offer, as customers may not have time to personally collect from store. Try adding a ‘spend over X amount’ to receive free next day delivery and/or gift wrapping – a fab way to encourage more spending online!

Make the ‘last day to order’ date visible – When a special event like Fathers Day is approaching it’s important to make sure your last order and delivery date/times are clear – this creates a sense of urgency to order sooner rather than later!

It’s also important to enforce a hassle-free and convenient returns policy to reassure customers and seal that deal!

Around 21% will shop for dad using a tablet or mobile phone but sites that are not optimised or meet Google’s new update for mobile-friendly search (see if your website is mobile-friendly here: https://www.google.co.uk/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/) will miss out on important sales. So with all these offers, delivery dates and fab products ideal for Fathers Day, they best way to let your customers know about them is via email.

Around two weeks before the day, send an email to all your customers and subscribers; inform them of delivery dates, any coupon codes and give them inspiration for things to buy. Don’t forget to include an engaging subject line to catch their attention.

But before you launch your email campaign; be ready for your visitors with a landing page that contains helpful product information and graphics relating to your Fathers Day gifts.

Go social! – Promoting your coupon codes and ‘Ideal gifts for dad’ via social networks encourages customers to share their purchases with friends who in turn find your great selection of Fathers Day gifts too.
