It’s almost time to get your elbows out!

Once 25th December has been and gone, it’s time to get your elbows out! Forget Christmas presents, it’s all about the great deals now.

shutterstock_164731838Starting Boxing Day, sales will be everywhere – it’s all part of the manic ‘January Sales’ period (which no longer start on January 1st). It’s important to prepare your business for the sales, well in advance, so you’re ready for the hordes of bargain hungry shoppers!

The Boxing Day sales tend to get very, very busy, with many lines of shopper likely to be queuing and frantically searching online as early as 6am. The key is to let your customers know when your sales will be kicking off. Send an email newsletter out, post on Facebook and make it clear on your Ecommerce (and Mcommerce!) homepage, with a top banner.

You could even start your sales early with exclusive online deals and of course you have the advantage of the 24/7 opening hours, ideal for the late night/early morning shoppers who want to snap up deals from the comfort of their own home. After all, many people will be unwrapping new mobiles and tablets from loved ones on Christmas day and will jump at the chance to do some online shopping.

Drive buyers to your website through promotional emails, and exclusive online offers. Encourage them to sign up to your newsletter with a ‘one-time special offer’ for candidates – once people have brought once, they are more likely to buy again.

Don’t forget about social media. Twitter and shopping go hand in hand, influencing not only purchasing decisions, but also helping to spread positive brand sentiment. 55% say they are likely to purchase from brands they follow on twitter. But… It’s not just Twitter that can help increase sales this Boxing Day – Facebook and Pinterest play a big part too (30% of consumers have made a purchase based on their engagement with a social network).

Post about your recommended products, what you have on offer, your ‘deals of the day’, and even competitions – but don’t forget to link back to your Ecommerce site! If you’re not using social media just yet, Sparkstone can help you become a social A-Lister and get seen in all the right places.
